“Safe sex” refers to the idea that condoms can prevent disease. This idea is false. Many people set sick even when using this “protection.” In addition, disease is not the only bad result of such behavior. The results of breaking the seventh commandments are many and they last for a long time.
The truth is just the opposite. Couples who do this are almost twice as likely to divorce before 10 years compared to all first marriages. In couples who are living together without being married there is also more physical cruelty. The man hurt their women three times more often than married men. Also people, who have sex before marriage, are much more likely to commit adultery after they are married. Women involved in cohabitation have much more depression (despair) than women who are married and a much lower rate of sexual satisfaction.
Today, there is a big increase in the number of diseases that are spread by sex. This also shows that the idea of “safe sex” is false. Condoms fail to prevent HIV (which causes AIDS) between 15 percent and 31 percent of the time.
People are using more condoms now. But diseases that are spread by sex as (STDs) have increased much more. In 1960, before the beginning of the “sexual revolution,” the most common diseases that were spread by sex were syphilis and gonorrhea. Doctors had discovered strong medicines to fight against these diseases. Therefore, many people believed they would soon disappear. Today medical science has discovered more than 20 types of STDs. More than 15 million people get these diseases every year in the United States or even to other countries. Many millions more become sick in other countries. Two thirds of all STDs happen to people 25 years of age or younger.
The most common STD caused by a virus is the human papilloma virus (HPV). There are more than 5.5 million new cases each year. Another deadly disease is Chlamydia trachomatis . Women who get this disease usually cannot have children. Medical science still has no cure for diseases such as herpes and the virus that causes AIDS. AIDS is now the main cause of death among people who are 25 to 44 years old. In the Philippines, as of 2005, there are 12,000 people living with HIV.
However, merely reading these numbers does not give a complete picture. People who get AIDS have terrible pain in their bones. They are weak and they throw up a lot. They have dark-colored spots on their skin. They often get cancer and other diseases. It is a terrible way to die.
