Arborists remove diseased or damaged tree limbs, or branches too close to power lines. Sometimes the whole tree needs removal. This work is dangerous so it pays well. To be successful you must like working outdoors, have no fear of heights and nerves of steel.

You can either hook up with a company that does this or go out on your own. You’ll need a chain saw, tree saws, cutters, trimmers, ladders, as well as safety goggles, harness, hard hat and a good pair of working gloves.

To get started, look for trees that need trimming and contact the owner. Take Polaroid photos for proof. Use may Mother Nature as a catalyst. After a major storm there is always work to be done. Offer a tree maintenance contract.

There is usually an open market for this skillful work and you can earn $30 to $70 per hour, depending on the area, the job to be done and the competition. Check under the Yellow Pages for tree service or landscaping and give a call to obtain more information. Then get those business cards printed and pass them out whenever you go.
