Get yourself a shovel and a plow attachment for your truck and you’re in business. The good news is that your customers are steady. Once you’ve established a customer base, you just head out in the early morning and start to work.

Rates are competitive and will vary from place to place, but figure an hourly rate of $30 to $60. A year-long contract, based on the amount of snowfall typical for your area and the size of the area to be plowed, is a good idea. Some years it will work in your favor, others it will work to the customer’s advantage. In either case, you are assured of a fixed income.
