There is a tremendous need for pet-sitters and pet-walkers. Most people hate the thought of putting their puppies and kittens in a kennel when they’re away. You can either take the animal into your home or you can go to the client’s home daily and care for their pet.

Overhead is minimal but you must love animals and know how to control unruly dogs. Most of your customers will be people you know- co-workers, friends, neighbors. But that does not mean you should give your services away. After all, it does take time and energy.

Charging $10 a visit for walking is a ballpark figure – based on $20 to $40 per hour. If there are more than two or three pets in the household, or if any of the pets are difficult to control or require special care, that figure will increase. Even part-time, you can make several hundred dollars a month with steady customers.
