Party Planner
Organization and networking is the name of this game. Add in creativity and you’re in business. Party planners do it all –from invitations to decorating and provide pony rides, magicians, moon walks, clowns, strippers, belly dancers, singing telegrams.

Essential to work knows the local caterers, disc jockeys, bands, flower shops and entertainment. The success or failure of the affair can rest directly on your shoulder.

How much you charge depends on where you live but $30 to $50 per hour is the going rate. You can also charge a flat rate or party fee, depending upon the complexity of the affair and the amount of time you feel it will take.

If you want to be a party consultant, you can offer your ideas and let the client do it. Either way, you make money.

Mary, a party planner friend of mine, suggest that if you are going to someone’s house for a consultation, you get a minimum fee $75 to $100 for your time and ideas. “It’s too easy for people to take your suggestions, then do it and cut you out,” she says, “I apply the consultation fee to the final payment so in case they ditch me, I’m covered.”
