Unlike baby-sitting in your home, nannies go to the home of the client. Nannies may be asked to cook, do light cleaning, and take the children out. The services you provide will depend on what is asked of you and what you are willing to do.

Check the Yellow Pages for nanny services. These agencies do the legwork for you. Once you have applied and been screened, they will give referrals that match your needs with the needs of the client.

Most nannies can make between $200 and $600 per week. Hours and salary are worked out between you and the employer. The agency makes its money from the client, in the same way an employment agency does.

A criminal background check will be required (can’t be too careful these days), and fingerprinting may be requested.
