There are many busy people and disabled folk who could use a mobile hairdresser, nail tech and or make-up artist. Nursing and convalescent homes are a good source for customers. Before you start, you will need to find out if your country and state require certification. This much needed service can be done in your home (provided you have a spare room off-limits to the kiddies), or in the homes of others.

Use an hourly rate of $30 to $40 to establish your pricing. Generally speaking, manicures will range from $15 to $20; acrylics $40 to $50; haircuts anywhere from $15 and up; prices for perms, color and highlighting will be more.

To get started, have a supply of different nail polishes and all the necessary equipments for manicures, pedicures and make-up application, if you plan to include that sideline. Have a variety of shampoos and conditioners, combs, brushes, scissors, etc. There are many beauty supply stores that have wholesale prices. If you are taking your act on the road, you’ll also need a portable cart and dryer.
