If you don’t have the facilities to do the baking, you can purchase an undecorated cake from a bakery.

To learn the trade, look through books, surf in the internet, talk to experienced bakers and practice, practice, practice. Spread the word of your venture to wedding consultants, party planners and businesses. Print flayers or take out a small ad in the paper.

The hourly rate is $30 to $40, depending on how complex the job is. Or you can charge an average of $5 per serving, by the tier (for wedding cakes) or by the make money once your reputation spreads.
