Taking Blood Pressure
Whenever your blood pressure (BP) is to be taken, whether you are doing it yourself or someone is doing it for you, you should keep several factors in mind so that you can get the most accurate reading.
The U.S. Pharmacist reports that one should rest for at least 15 minutes before a blood pressure reading is taken. This is important because the BP rises to compensate for the increased amount of blood that polls in the legs by gravity as when one is moving about. Without this compensatory increase of BP, the amount of blood flow to the brain would become inadequate during periods of physical activity. The height of one's BP, furthermore, depends upon how active one has been just before it is taken.

Breakfast Menu
Too many working women skip breakfast and then gobble down the wrong foods after they've checked in with the boss. Take-out breakfast from fast-food establishment are very high in fat, salt, sugar, and cholesterol-typically eggs, croissants, doughnuts, sweet rolls, fried ham, sausages, or bacon. Commercial bran muffins are likely to be high in sugar and saturated fats. Fruited yogurt contains 140 calories of heavily sugared preserves and 140 calorie of yogurt. Watch out for bagels with cream cheese and for commercial granola, usually high in fat and sugar. Nondairy creamers are a bad idea because they're made of corn syrup and coconut oil.

Antioxidant
Antioxidants are compounds in foods that can stop free radicals from doing harm in the body. Because they may also boost the immune system, they are a big help in lowering the risk of cancer and infection.
Free radicals, on the other hand, are the unstable oxygen molecules that have lost an electron through exposure to sunlight, pollution, and daily wear and tear. They are free-moving molecules that travel around the body trying to stabilize themselves by stealing electrons from healthy molecules. More free radicals are created after a successful steal, damaging healthy cells in the process.

Ear Cleaning
There's an old saying: "Never put anything smaller than your elbow in your ear." Your ear canal and eardrum, are very delicate. Don't use cotton-tipped swabs, bobby pins, paper clips, or twisted pieces of paper to clean your ears. These items usually don't remove problem wax and - more importantly- can easily damage your eardrum. In fact, you may push the wax in deeper when you use these items.

Sleep Problem
Sleep apnea is the condition in which people frequently stop breathing at night for a disturbingly long time. Each episode ends in a burst of snoring. Because this occurs many times a night, it can interfere significantly with the brain's oxygen supply and result in morning headaches, drowsiness, and the need for many naps during the day. Ultimately, high blood pressure, heart failure, and intellectual deterioration may supervene.

Loosing Weight
When overweight results from an underlying condition, you can bet that nothing is likely to matter unless the problem is brought under control. Similarly, if drug treatment is contributing to the problem, you'll be in that classic risk/benefit dilemma: Is the benefits of the medicine more compelling than the discomfort of the side effect?
The fact is, however, that for most people, no underlying cause for weight woes can be found. But that doesn't mean that you're without options. A diet and exercise program can make a big difference.
