According to statistics, most deaths in the United States do not occur in the home: 80% of all deaths occur in the hospitals; 70% who die each year are over age 65 and 5% are under age 15.

A 1985 health report disclosed that 50% of all deaths and illnesses are either unnecessary or premature. After studying the most prevalent deaths in the U.S., the Carter Center at Emory University concluded that a healthy lifestyle is twice as effective as medical technology at increasing life expectancy.

Smoking
When I heard the news this morning, I was so shocked that Philippines ranked 6th place in the world’s most smoker people, according to World Health Organization based on 2007 survey. The Department of Health (DOH) today make a move on how to overcome this issue. The DOH suggests that increasing taxes on cigarette companies and increase the price of cigarettes will help a lot to stop people to smoke especially the young people who are now smoking.

As a concern citizen in this country, what can I contribute is my research on how to commit yourself to quit smoking and I believe that it’s not easy to quit if you have this problem.
