Work Effectively
"That everyone may get and drink, and find satisfaction in all his toil - this is the gift of God."
Where do we get our finances? The following proverb suggests the answer: "Go to the ant, you sluggard; consider its ways and be wise! It has no commander, no overseer or ruler, yet it stores its provisions in summer and gathers its good at harvest" (Proverbs 6:6-8). How do the ways of the ant apply to us?

It has no commander, no overseer or ruler, yet it stores its provisions in summer and gathers its good at harvest" (Proverbs 6:6-8). How do the ways of the ant apply to us?
First: The ant has a work ethic. He works hard. He is hard at work every day. Collossians 3:23 says, "Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men." The ant does not put off work until a later time. Be diligent in the following ways as you do your work, with an attitude of serving the Lord, and you will become a valuable employee.
Second: The ant is wise. It takes both a work ethic and wisdom to prosper. There are several ways an ant shows his wisdom.
The ant does well because it sows well. You will reap what you sow. The ant also reaps. This is the principle of sowing and reaping, after a while, you will reap. Everyone wants to reap, but the harvest depends on the sowing. sowing is giving, taking of your store of talents and possessions and putting them to good use. Reaping is the paycheck.
Ants have a work ethic. They realize that it takes hard work to accomplish their goals. Ants are wise. They know their jobs. They are teachable, they redeem the time, and plan for the future. If you emulate the ant, though he is small, you will be successful.
- Get your work done in a timely manner. Meet or exceed your deadlines. Do not put it off until the last minute.
- Assume responsibility for your work. Do not assume someone else will be responsible. My friend says " I was once the navigator aboard a jet cargo aircraft. My life was in danger every time we flew, so I took the responsibility for the safety of that plane every time. I took the responsibility of making sure others were doing their jobs. I did not answer to anyone for that responsibility, but I think I saved the plane at least once just by that attitude, and I think that is enough"!
- Do more than the maximum expected of you. Exceed the expectations of your supervisor, employer, or client. Go the extra mile. Jesus said, :If someone forces you to go one mile, go with him two miles" (Matthew 5:41).
- Deliver excellent quality work. Never turn in sloppy, half completed work. Push yourself to do the very best. Remember, you are not only doing it for your boss, but for Jesus.
- Do not waste your employer's time. Spend your work time working, not wasting away the day in socializing. Do not come late or leave early. Give a fair day's work for a day's wage.
- Find what needs to be done and do it. Do not wait for your supervisor to tell you everything. You can figure out what needs to be done yourself. Do it.
Second: The ant is wise. It takes both a work ethic and wisdom to prosper. There are several ways an ant shows his wisdom.
- The ant knows how to do his job. That means you need to be teachable. Get the schooling needed for the position you want. Do not say you know more than you do. But humble yourself enough to be a learner.
- Ants work together in a team. Learn how to work well with other people. In the workforce, you are all kinds of people, some of whom are not nice and do not use appropriate language. They are not all Christians. Love them anyway. Be open, honest, without forcing it on anyone. Act in front of the unbeliever at work husbands. 1Peter3:1-2 says, "if any of them do not believe the word, they may be won over without words by the behavior ... when they see the purity and reverence of your lives."
- An ant looks out for the future by storing provisions. Ecclesiastes 3:1 says, "There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under heaven." there is a time for setting aside for the future and there is a time for spending. There is a time for work and a time for relaxation. Know what time it is.
