Living today is complicated. Many things clutter up our lives and tie us down. Just think of the unnecessary confusion and anxiety caused by a computer problem and other kind of problems occur. those "wired" to the computer worried so much about what the future would bring.
- Principle. Serve one master. There is no neutral position when devoting one's self either to God or to mammon (wealth of every kind). It is impossible because their demands are irreconcilable. The only sure dependence is on GOD and not on any earthy guarantee.
- Precaution. Take no thought. Taking no thought means not to be anxious about, to worry. Jesus is not recommending asceticism, or places a premium on poverty. He is not saying that a poor man or a careless man is more acceptable to GOD. What Jesus condemns is the habit of worrying about materials things of life, especially about those that are over and above the necessities of life. He condemns the desire that leads to extravagance. Think of the American billionaire, Howard Hughes. His whole life was an obsession in securing himself with so much wealth. But he lived in a small apartment hat was untidy, he was unkempt, and died malnourished and sick. What we need is a discriminating discernment of the value of things.
- Provision. God will take care of your needs. Life is not to be squandered in securing a future. How many are they that work and toil and acquire wealth without rest, and spend the rest of their lives trying to regain health, only to find the grave. That which should receive the greater attention is life itself. Food, important as it is, is not an end in itself, but a means to the end of supporting life. Concentrate on making life noble and worth living, rather than spend your whole life in securing future that you are not even sure about! Trust GOD to provide for He surely cares for you.
- Procedure. Put God's kingdom first. What matters in life more than anything is "the kingdom of God and His righteousness." this is the great purpose in man's existence. We eat to live and not live to eat! We live not for things, not for the complexity of living. We celebrate life as GOD intended it to be in the first place. We were made to serve Him for he alone is the source of true happiness, security, and contentment.
