Money
Money is universally-regarded as the “cruel-all” which can solve all problems on the face of the earth. In a sense this is true because it is the short-cut towards obtaining one’s basic necessities in life. Most convenient, too, money affords us the opportunity to lessen physical efforts.

It may be pointed out that, in ages gone by when money had not yet been thought of, we merely exchanged goods and services for another. It was known as the barter system. For example, if you desired someone to plow your farm, you might have offered him ten chickens for that job.

Follow these guidelines to begin to reduce your everyday spending.
  • Get An Overview of Your Money.   Write down how much you earn each day after taxes, and list all of the money you owe, including credit card debt and car loans. By calculating your earnings and listing your debt, you are becoming more aware of how long it takes to earn what you're thinking of spending, and how hard it is to pay off what you already owe. Consider taking the list of debts along when you shop. Before you go shopping, make a list of what you intended to buy and set a limit on how much you are going to spend.

Abundance of Life
The world equates success with high positions and material prosperity. Many Christians accept the world’s concept of success and follow the world’s model of life. I am not saying that working for a promotion or owning a nice car and house are bad. It’s not the activities which I am focusing on, but the motivation. Why do we want a promotion? Why are we eager to acquire a house and a car? If it is to meet our needs, well and good. But if it is to boost our ego, then we are being worldly.

Happy and Contented
A practical way to maintain a simple lifestyle is to practice lifestyle of “enough.” For example, a businessman decides that what is enough for him is a modest place to stay, some clean clothes to wear, enough food to eat, and a reliable car to move him around, plus some extra spending money. Even if his income increases tenfold, he does not intend to move to a bigger house nor buy an expensive car. So, all extra income can be given to the Lord’s work.
